Great Blue Heron
Back in February of 2021, I was running and I fell after slipping on some ice. I fractured my ankle and sprained my wrist. As a devout runner and painter, I was devastated. Everything I loved became challenging. I had vivid dreams of large birds over and over again and a voice telling me to paint them. I was determined to put some of them on canvas.
I'm amazed at how these messages show up at the most opportune time. The blue heron teaches us about patience, perseverance, determination, and persistence. It also teaches us about being gentle and kind towards others and ourselves. This bird is a symbol of self-nurturance and the ability to nurture others. It was the perfect message for healing and perseverance.
